Litter box training a dog
I have always purchased older dogs, directly from the breeder, instead of buying a young puppy. I like the fact that older dogs are already trained, and (usually) easier to handle.
However, most people love puppies and would rather buy a puppy instead of an older dog. Most new puppy owners are aware that there will be several months of training a new puppy, including litter box training a dog, and basic behavior commands.
It seems as though some breeds are easier to train (faster learners?) than other breeds. Some breeds understand quickly what they are suppose to do, and not suppose to do, while other take longer to catch on. Then you have some breeds that are pretty stubborn and will resist learning for as long as they can.
Whether you choose a new puppy or an older dog, there will be some adjustments to be made in your life and in your household. Regardless of your choice you will have a loving companion for years to come.
